Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Lyrical/Contemporary, and Musical Theater

Katie Edwards has over 17 years of dance experience and over 8 years of teaching dance. She has trained in nearly every major genre of dance, including ballet, pointe, lyrical, contemporary, jazz, hip hop, modern, tap, musical theatre, swing, latin, ballroom, and more. Katie has received training under several notable dance instructors, including Annmarie Carlson Drake, Jared Baker, Sam Picart, Catey Ott Thompson, and recently, Yumelia Garcia, Abby Leithart, and Glorielle Niedfeldt. 

 

In December of 2021, Katie graduated from Martin Luther College with an education degree and a teaching license. During her time at college, she also took a kinesiology class for fun, adding to her thorough understanding of dance and its relation to the human body. 

 

Katie absolutely loves teaching dance! She has taught at several respected studios, including Metropolitan Ballet, Creo Arts and Dance Conservatory, and Dance Conservatory of Southern MN, along with countless other dance-related jobs. She has also choreographed and co-choreographed several musicals, including Beauty and the Beast, Wizard of Oz, Oliver Twist, and others. In the summer of 2022, Katie taught her first master classes at Dance Studio 3-D, and she continues to find local opportunities to teach dance camps, workshops, and master classes in the summer of 2023. 

 

Katie’s recent dance accomplishments include ranking second in the solo professional division for Madison Contemporary Dance’s 2023 festival, showcasing an original piece as a selected emerging choreographer for Danceworks in Milwaukee, coaching Lakeside Lutheran High School’s dance team, and cross-training the Badger Ballroom Dance Team. In her free time, she loves creating new choreography videos as well as competing with the ballroom team! She is so excited to bring her dance variety to her students at ASA!
